The Editors of JVC are delighted to announce that Bob Nicholson from the University of Manchester is the winner of the graduate prize essay competition 2011. His essay, ‘”You Kick the Bucket; We do the Rest”: Jokes and the Culture of Reprinting in the Transatlantic Press’ will appear in volume 17 of the journal. We would like to extend our thanks to Bob – and to all the entrants to this year’s competition – for the great pleasure reading fresh work from a new generation of scholars brings to all involved in the judging process.
The next graduate prize essay competition will take place in spring 2013 – watch this space – and remember our rules allow scholars to apply up to three years after the thesis has been examined.
